Dr. Soumya Roy is the founder of B-Gyan Food Consulting. Soumya has worked in the food industry for almost 30 years with careers at General Mills, GNC and Ocean Spray Cranberries. Over his industry career he has worked on fruit snacks and gummies, yogurt, bars and baked goods, dried fruits, fruit juices, and other innovative snacking products. He and his teams developed the formulas, processes and in some instances also developed unique IP that resulted in various patents. His passion is to utilize novel ingredients and technologies and keep moving the food industry forward in its quest for healthier products. Soumya has a Ph.D. in Food Science from Penn State, M.S. in Food Science from Clemson University and Bachelors in Dairy Technology from BCKV University in India.
Dr. Raghu Kandala is a Partner at B-Gyan Food Consulting. Raghu has over 18 years of experience in the food industry working at PepsiCo (Frito Lay) and Ocean Spray Cranberries. He has extensive experience in thermal processing including hot fill, aseptic, tunnel pasteurization and retort platforms. As a product developer he developed various salsas, cheese dips and ranch style dips, dried fruit innovation, new snacking products, etc. He has optimized processes for blending, drying, thermal processing and other unit operations. In his FSQA career, Raghu has audited and qualified numerous contract manufacturing facilities, commissioned new products and lines and has helped troubleshoot food safety and product quality issues. Raghu has a Ph.D. in Food Science from University of Georgia, M.S. in Agricultural Engineering from Penn State and Bachelors in Agricultural Engineering from IIT in India.
